On November 9, 2010 in Dallas, TX, the Council For Life hosted the "Celebrating Life Luncheon"at the Hilton Anatole Hotel with 1,050 people in attendance. The Luncheon Chairs were Sarah and George Seay and the Honorary Chairs were Gena and Chuck Norris. Stephen Arterburn, author and host of the number one Christian counseling broadcasting, "New Life Live," was the speaker at the luncheon.

Sarah and George Seay announced that the $450,000 goal had been exceeded and in addition to the 10 beneficiaries, the 2 wait listed beneficiaries would also be funded.

The Council For Life, a Dallas based organization is focused on raising awareness about difficult that surround unplanned pregnancies. They also provide funding for the agencies that share the same mission of "empowering, educating, and equipping our community to make life-affirming choices."

DMA Kicks Off Cowboys Stadium Art Program

In anticipation of Super Bowl XLV in February, 2011 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, the Dallas Museum of Art will premiere an exhibition in December in honor of the Cowboys Stadium Art Program. This exhibition - Big New Field: Artists in the Cowboys Stadium Art Program - will feature works by the artists represented in the groundbreaking contemporary art program at the spectacular new stadium. The exhibition opens on December 5, 2010 and closes on February 20, 2011.

The “season kick off” begins on Saturday, December 4, with Free Admission Day from 11 AM to 5 PM centered on a “sneak peek” of the exhibition. Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including an artist workshop with Annette Lawrence and Studio Creations.

SPCA Adoption Pavilion at NorthPark

What: The SPCA of Texas and NorthPark Center team up this holiday season for the 20th Annual Pet Adoption Pavilion. To celebrate this milestone, the SPCA of Texas is thrilled to announce NorthPark Center as the home in Dallas for all the SPCA of Texas’ adoptable dogs and cats this holiday season.

When:
The Adoption Pavilion at NorthPark Center will be open November 26, 2010 through December 24, 2010. Hours are Noon to 6 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. On Christmas Eve, hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where:
The Adoption Pavilion will be located in the main entrance hallway next to Victoria’s Secret, near Santa Claus.

Why:
For the past 20 years, the SPCA of Texas has partnered with NorthPark Center for what continues to be the most successful adoption event of the year. Every year, hundreds of homeless dogs and cats find their loyal, loving families at NorthPark Center, and this year will be no different.

Downtown McKinney’s premier festival, the 30th Annual Dickens of a Christmas, is the perfect start to the holiday season! This magical event is free to the public, and free shuttle service will be provided. Click here for the entertainment schedule.

Santa will be located in The Gallery of the McKinney Performing Arts Center. Entertainment Photos will be offering photo packages if you choose to purchase; however, visits with Santa are free to the public. The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Friday, November 26 at 6:15 p.m. in Mitchell Park, located one block west of the square. Don't miss a special message from Mayor Brian Loughmiller, then follow Santa back to the square to enjoy the spirit of the season.
Take a horse drawn carriage ride through the Historic District. Free carriage rides will be offered at the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts, just two blocks off the square.

McKinney Repertory Theatre presents "A Christmas Carol"
Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.; Sunday at 2 p.m.

Lone Star Wine Cellars
will be collecting toys for the local Toys for Tots campaign. Infinity Art Academy will host an array of events - Mrs. Claus "Story Time on the Hour," Puppet Theatre, and an Art Table to make your own Christmas Candy Paintings. Other activities include a bounce house, giant tic-tac-toe and hopscotch games, and "A Christmas Story" playing outdoors on Saturday at 5pm.

The Pantry Restaurant will collect canned food for the Collin County Food Pantry. You should also check out the Christmas photos and painting with Sip-N-Doodle, along with face painting, sand art, caricature drawings, pony rides, petting zoo and live reindeer. Freedom Church will be taking blanket donations for The Samaritan Inn. Don’t forget about the popular 30-horse Dickens Carousel will be located on Tennessee Proper, and see the live nativity at the corner of Louisiana and Church Streets.

A Village Holiday - Friday, November 26

Highland Park Village’s holiday festivities will take place on November 26 from 2 to 6 PM. Village visitors will enjoy caroling, face painting, balloon artists, carriage rides, and special offers at participating retailers. Additionally, the famous Highland Park Village Christmas lights will be illuminated for the first time of the season that evening. The merchants of Highland Park Village are hosting a toy drive to benefit the S.M. Wright Foundation. The Lights at Legacy

On Sunday, November 22, The Shops at Legacy in Plano will kick-off the holiday season by hosting “The Lights at Legacy,” a fun-filled tree lighting ceremony enjoyed by local residents and surrounding communities that specifically benefits the Child Life department at Children’s at Legacy.

Children’s Medical Center will be there, with the Women’s Auxiliary supporting the hospital through the sale of blinking reindeer noses and specially commissioned Christopher Radko™ holiday ornaments (inspired by a patient’s artwork) and photos with Santa Claus. A real Children’s ambulance will also be on-site, along with tables providing free information on the hospital and the Women’s Auxiliary.

Several shop owners and restaurants are generously donating a portion of the day’s sales to Children’s, including U Boutique and Med Spa, Half Shell’s Seafood Grill, Gordon Biersch brewery restaurant, St. Bernard Sports and Bachendorf’s jewelers.

Other holiday sights and sounds at the event include live reindeer, carolers, face-painting, train & carriage rides and caricature artists — all while various musical groups and choirs perform on three different stages. Merchants will be hosting a variety of activities including special promotions both inside and outside their stores.

The festival kicks off at 2 p.m. The tree lighting ceremony takes place at 6:30 p.m., featuring Plano mayor Phil Dyer as the official switch flipper. For more information about the event, please visit the website.

Recent St. Jude Events Raise $700,000


St. Jude Children's Research Hospital just wrapped up their annual Evening Under the Star Party and the St. Jude/Derek Harper Golf Classic which raised $700,000 for the kids of St. Jude.
The golf tournament attracted big names at Stonebriar Country Club, such as legend Lee Trevino and Tim Brown. Within the same month guests had a wonderful evening while dining on the Dallas Cowboys new turf, Cowboys Stadium. Silent and live auctions included Super Bowl XLV tickets, dinner and kitchen tour at Abacus, a whopping 27.65 carat blue topaz pendant and much more.
Both of these events continue to help raise awareness and funding for children with cancer. Congratulations to all the attendees, committee members, St. Jude's, donors and everyone involved in making these North Texas events successful for St. Jude Children's Hospital!

Holiday at the Arboretum

We are delighted to announce that this year’s speaker is Kirsten Haglund. As the 2008 Miss America, Kirsten adopted eating disorder awareness as her official platform. Her personal struggle with an eating disorder led her to establish the Kirsten Haglund Foundation which provides hope, networking, and financial aid to those seeking treatment and recovery from eating disorders. Special thanks to Co-Chairs Megan and Ryan McManemin and their wonderful committees for their hard work. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Elisa Project and will help to expand their community outreach and education programs and to provide increased resources, education, and support to the patients and families who struggle with eating disorders and the health professionals who care for them.

The Trains at NorthPark roll in this Saturday!

Since 1987, The Trains at NorthPark presented by Bank of Texas, has raised money for the children and families served by the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. Currently this annual fundraiser provides the funds for almost one-third of their annual operating budget.

New this year at the exhibit is a Lionel store selling train sets, collectibles, t-shirts and gifts, with part of the proceeds being donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.

The Art Mart has always been the place to find a special piece of art for yourself, family and friends. Paintings, sculpture, photography, pottery, ceramics, jewelry, cards and other unique creations will be featured along with food, a silent auction and much more. "Light a fire in the hearts of our educators to teach tolerance and acceptance of those with differences." This event is designed to bring those working with our youth together in hopes of discussing the issues of this heartbreaking problem where some see suicide as their only option.

The North Texas Food Bank joined SYP Dallas at the Oct. happy hour and shared the difference between a real and a virtual food drive. A virtual food drive helps your dollars spent go further because NTFB can purchase food at lower costs than we can.

Angels of Charity Holiday Home Tour

The Angels of Charity will hold the 3rd Annual Holiday Home Tour on Friday, November 19th and Saturday, November 20th. Join the charity for a tour of festively-decorated homes throughout the Metroplex. What makes this tour so distinctive is the special cooking and decorating demonstrations offered at each home by local-area chefs, caterers and decorators who volunteer their time, talent and materials. Generous sponsors lend their support to ensure the event is a success. The tour is held to raise awareness and funds for the vital services provided by Catholic Charities of Dallas, and to kick-off the Bishop's Gala for Catholic Charities that follows. Family Fun at the Lights at Legacy Festival!!


The Lights at Legacy is the kick off to the Holiday Season and a fantastic family event. Added to this year is the Trees of Legacy where beautifully decorated trees and wreaths will be with photo's with Santa. This particular event will benefit the Junior League of Plano.
The Women's Auxiliary to Children's Medical at Legacy will be selling blinky noses, Santa laser wands and Radko ornaments as a fundraiser. Come by our tent to tour an ambulance, see live reindeer and get your free reindeer hat.
