DMA Kicks Off Cowboys Stadium Art Program

In anticipation of Super Bowl XLV in February, 2011 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, the Dallas Museum of Art will premiere an exhibition in December in honor of the Cowboys Stadium Art Program. This exhibition - Big New Field: Artists in the Cowboys Stadium Art Program - will feature works by the artists represented in the groundbreaking contemporary art program at the spectacular new stadium. The exhibition opens on December 5, 2010 and closes on February 20, 2011.

The “season kick off” begins on Saturday, December 4, with Free Admission Day from 11 AM to 5 PM centered on a “sneak peek” of the exhibition. Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including an artist workshop with Annette Lawrence and Studio Creations.

Throughout the three-month exhibition run, additional programming will include the following (details available at DallasMuseumofArt.org):

Join KERA host and senior producer Jeff Whittington for a conversation with artist Annette Lawrence, whose work is featured in the exhibit; Charles Wylie, Dallas Museum of Art curator and member of the Cowboys Stadium Art Council; and architect Bryan K. Trubey, Principal/Director of the HKS Sports & Entertainment Group, which designed Cowboys Stadium.
Meaningful Moments: Big New Field
Tuesday, January 18, 2011, 10:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
Designed specifically for individuals with early-stage dementia and their family members or caregivers, Meaningful Moments is a monthly program that includes an interactive gallery discussion and an art-making activity in the Art Studio. The program is free but reservations are required.
