Primavera at LRFA Dallas

Primavera celebrates the renewal and lushness of spring. Carly Allen Martin and Janna Watson draw from their unique experiences of the season to produce compositions teeming with delicate abundance. LRFA will be hosting the opening reception on Saturday, March 23rd from 4:30 - 7:30 PM at their Dallas Design District gallery.

Carly Allen Martin imbues each painting with optimism and hope, her fearless approach to color inspiring joy with each brushstroke. Lively palettes temper through diverse medias of oil, charcoal, encaustic, graphite, and pastel, collaborating to form distinct moments of textural brilliance. Like the rebirth of springtime, Allen Martin’s compositions begin spontaneously. After laying the initial marks, Allen Martin then pulls back and waits for the painting to reveal her next course of action, as a collaborative effort. Through the repetition of this process, Allen Martin captures bursts of harmony and bliss.

Janna Watson captures the essence of the natural world in complex statements of hue and movement. Each purposeful stroke symbolizes a split-second instance of spiritual dance as Watson balances the real and the unreal. Watson builds intricate dimensionality, breaking down and rebuilding the natural world into seductive tangles of chroma. Through sweeping paint across expanses of deep stains, bright technicolor, or peaceful neutrals, Watson formulates secret conversations. These conversations walk the line between chaos and serenity, like the torrential spring rains and the earliest buds on the trees, natural phenomenon laid bare.

Primavera will be on display through May 4th, 2024.
