Chi Omega Candy Christmas This Weekend!

The Chi Omega Christmas Market offers a unique one-of-a-kind shopping experience with over 175 merchants showcasing gifts for every age including holiday décor, women’s clothing and accessories, home accents, children’s clothing and toys, food gifts, and much more! In its 38 year history, Chi Omega Christmas Market has distributed $6.75 million dollars to the Dallas community through grants to local charities and collegiate scholarships.

 

Funds for Chi Omega Christmas Market beneficiaries are derived solely from ticket sales, merchant booth fees, donations and underwriting. Chi Omega Christmas Market receives no monies from merchant booth sales. Last year, they donated $269,500 to worthy local organizations and are thrilled to continue the tradition of giving this year!

Chi Omega Alum Welcome Shoppers for Christmas Market Preview Party

On Wednesday, November 19, 2014, the Chi Omega Alumnae of Dallas welcomed shoppers to Centennial Hall at Fair Park for the annual Preview Party, kicking off the Chi Omega Christmas Market and ringing in the holiday shopping season. The 2014 Chi Omega Christmas Market, themed “Christmas in the City,” marks 37 years of giving. Continuing in the spirited tradition, the Chi Omega Christmas Market committee and 2014 Co-Chairs Allison Cox and Sara Koda selected 10 local beneficiaries and pledged $206,500 to the following: Bea’s Kids, Chi Omega Education Foundation, Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, CitySquare, Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center, Dallas Children’s Theater, Dallas Police Association’s Assist the Officer Foundation, Letot Center Capital Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas^® and Project Transformation.

2014 Chi Omega Christmas Market Co-Chair Allison Cox and Preview Party Emcee Shelly Slater welcomed shoppers to the Market as Hunter Sullivan performed and entertained guests throughout the night. Guests were treated to cocktails by Deep Eddy Vodka and hors d’oeuvres from Urban Taco. 180 merchants filled Centennial Hall turning it into a luxury gift marketplace with items for everyone, including: jewelry; home décor; women’s, men’s and children’s clothing; toys; holiday decorations; food and drinks; items for entertaining; linens; and original art.

Since inception, Wish Night has granted more than 1,350 wishes for children in North Texas battling life-threatening medical conditions.

Save the Date: Wish Night

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of North Texas will host its 16th Annual Wish Night gala presented by Helzberg Diamonds® on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. Guests will arrive at 6:00pm for “A Night of Enchanted Wishes” as the evening begins with silent auction, followed by a multi-course dinner, live auction, special performance from past wish recipients, and the ever-so-popular midnight snack. 

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is honored that Steve and Barbara Durham will serve as this year’s Honorary Ball Chairs. Their experience and generosity in serving worthy causes throughout Dallas is well known. The Durham’s bring real enthusiasm and energy to making a difference in the lives of children battling life-threatening medical conditions.

Wish Night has raised more than $9.5 million to grant wishes throughout the North Texas community and thanks to the generous help from outstanding individuals and organizations like Helzberg Diamonds, The Marketing Arm and Mr. & Mrs. Durham, this signature event continues to grow with the hopes of helping the North Texas chapter fulfill every eligible child’s one true wish.

Cupcake Wars for Charity

Sprinkles Cupcakes will host the first ever Big D’s "Big News" Cupcake Wars on Saturday, January 21, at NorthCourt inside NorthPark Center. Gene and Julie, co-hosts of The New 103.7 Lite FM/KVIL will emcee the confectionary contest to determine which local personalities’ charity will take home a $5,000 grand prize.

Gene and Julie will kick off the event with a preliminary Q&A round, and each team’s answers will be factored into final scores. The following contenders will then have 30 minutes to frost, decorate and creatively display cupcakes in the spirit of their organization:
- Roni Proter of The CW 33 for Hunger Busters
- Clarice Tinsley of KDFW-TV for Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas
- Amy Vanderoef of WFAA-TV for Hold the Door
- Brittany Cobb of Daily Candy for Make-A-Wish Foundation®
- Maxine Trowbridge of PinkMemo for Fashion Group International
- Meredith Land of KXAS-TV for LIVESTRONG

Founder of Sprinkles Cupcakes and judge of the Food Network’s "Cupcake Wars" Candace Nelson will join fellow judges: our own Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, Editor-at-Large for Southern Living Magazine; Barneys New York Concierge Jackson; and Owner & Pastry Chef Toni Rivard. Judges will choose one winning team to receive a $5,000 donation to their charity. The best part is that everyone wins! Sprinkles Cupcakes will also donate $1,000 to the remaining organizations.

Sprinkles Cupcakes Dallas – located inside The Plaza at Preston Center – will provide freshly-baked cupcakes and the bakery’s famous frosting, but teams are invited to bring decorations and display materials of their choice.

The event is open to the public, so sugar-aficionados and spectators are welcome to cheer from the sidelines while DJ OB-JEN & JUICE provide sweet music. Nelson and competitors will meet and greet with the crowd starting at 3:00 p.m., and the Cupcake Wars kicks off at 3:30 p.m.

Tiff's Treats Make-A-Wish Fundraiser

Everyone loves a good cookie and Tiff's Treats is opening a new location on Hillcrest just past Northwest Highway in the Hillcrest Shopping Center. They are going to kick off their store opener with a Make-A-Wish fundraiser for "Wish Kid" Matthew, an 8-year-old from Dallas who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. His dream is to take an Alaskan cruise and experience dog sledding. As a community, let's all try to help Matthew's dream become a reality.

During this event, guests may purchase up to three one-dozen cookie boxes filled with one of Tiff's most popular flavors -- hard choice, I know, so order away! Each box will only be $3 with 100% of proceeds donated to Make-A-Wish Foundation to help fund Matthew's wish. Matthew and his family will be there, along with a DJ, prizes, special drawings and more. If you need any extra incentive, the first 10 people in line at the Hillcrest location grand opening at 9:00 AM will recieve a $100 Tiff's treat gift card and the next 10 people will get a $20 gift card and the next ten a $10 gift card with all the benefits helping Matthew. Lastly, anyone who buys a box of cookies at the grand opening can enter a chance to win cookies for a year!! Come on everyone, do it for Matthew!

Join the Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas at this year's The Sweetest Wish: Wish Night 2011 to assist in continuing to help make wishes come true! This year's event takes place on May 14th at the Hilton Anatole from 6 p.m.-12 a.m. with event chairs Allegra and Rob Feito and honorary chair June Jones. “I’m really happy to be helping The Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas,” Jones said. “The Foundation does so many great things and we just hope that we can create some wonderful opportunities for these children and their families." This year’s Wish Night: The Sweetest Wish will feature silent and live auctions, dinner, and dancing!

Race for Wishes

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of North Texas is hosting its annual Race for Wishes℠, on Saturday, March 26th, 2011 at Williams Square in Las Colinas.

Lace up your running shoes, put together a team, and help bring hope, strength and joy to the wish kids in North Texas!

This is a fun event for the whole family with a 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run/Walk. There will be a Kids Zone with face-painting, bounce houses, games, clowns and more! Invite your family, friends and co-workers to join you as you support the Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas.
