The gala was founded in 1993 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dallas Children's Theater and to raise critical annual funds for the organization. Now celebrating its 25th year, having raised nearly $2 million, the Cabaret Gala has developed a reputation as one of the most popular fundraising evenings in Dallas!

Besides raising significant funds for Dallas Children's Theater,

the Cabaret Gala also raises and expands the civic profile of the organization through its high profile press and what has been described by The Dallas Morning News as, "one of the city's most glamorous evenings out."

Chi Omega Alum Welcome Shoppers for Christmas Market Preview Party

On Wednesday, November 19, 2014, the Chi Omega Alumnae of Dallas welcomed shoppers to Centennial Hall at Fair Park for the annual Preview Party, kicking off the Chi Omega Christmas Market and ringing in the holiday shopping season. The 2014 Chi Omega Christmas Market, themed “Christmas in the City,” marks 37 years of giving. Continuing in the spirited tradition, the Chi Omega Christmas Market committee and 2014 Co-Chairs Allison Cox and Sara Koda selected 10 local beneficiaries and pledged $206,500 to the following: Bea’s Kids, Chi Omega Education Foundation, Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, CitySquare, Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center, Dallas Children’s Theater, Dallas Police Association’s Assist the Officer Foundation, Letot Center Capital Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas^® and Project Transformation.

2014 Chi Omega Christmas Market Co-Chair Allison Cox and Preview Party Emcee Shelly Slater welcomed shoppers to the Market as Hunter Sullivan performed and entertained guests throughout the night. Guests were treated to cocktails by Deep Eddy Vodka and hors d’oeuvres from Urban Taco. 180 merchants filled Centennial Hall turning it into a luxury gift marketplace with items for everyone, including: jewelry; home décor; women’s, men’s and children’s clothing; toys; holiday decorations; food and drinks; items for entertaining; linens; and original art.

TACA Gives Out Record $1.3M in Grants to North Texas PAOs in 2013

Washington School for the Performing Arts and Juilliard School; Norm Bagwell, Bank of Texas chairman and CEO and presenting sponsor of the TACA Grant Awards.

Dallas' premier umbrella arts organization TACA, The Arts Community Alliance, had a banner year fundraising in 2012, allowing the organization to distribute $1.3 million to diverse and deserving North Texas performing arts organizations. Of that amount, $1.2 million was distributed on January 28 at the TACA Grant Awards Presentation, presented by Bank of Texas, at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre. Hosting the event was the AT&T Performing Arts Center. The additional $100,000 will be distributed later this year in June as part of the TACA Donna Wilhelm Family New Works Fund.

"Bravo to all those who supported TACA, who attended one of our events, who support the performing arts by attending a play, a performance, a musical and more," said Nancy Carlson, Chair of TACA's Board of Directors.

In 2013, TACA's grants awarded will help support more than 5,073 performances that approximately 1.4 million people will attend. Ranging from $5,000 to $110,000, TACA grants are being awarded to a varied group of North Texas' performing arts organizations, from the very large and established to the newly emerging.

New organizations being funded this year are AT&T Performing Arts Center, Bruce Wood Dance Project, Lone Star Circus Arts Center, Nasher Sculpture Center, New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving, and Plano Symphony Orchestra.

Klyde Warren Park Preview

The Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation announced yesterday the first programming partners who will bring music, fitness, education, games and art into the park, which opens in twelve weeks. Five acres of shared, public green space will deck over the existing Woodall Rodgers Freeway, bringing new traditions, shared experiences and FUN to the center of Dallas.

The park will maintain a constant stream of free daily activities, such as yoga, Tai Chi, chess, book clubs lectures and live performances.  Partners include Bikram Yoga, Booker T Washington High School, Crow Collection of Asian Art, Dallas Children's Theater, Dallas Film Society, Dallas Opera, Dallas Regional Chamber, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Fido's Finest Dog Training, Perot Museum of Nature and Science, The Shabby Sheep, SMU, Texas Ballet Theater, UTD and others. 

Klyde Warren Park will host a grand opening weekend on October 27-28.
