Dallas Habitat's Building Hope Celebration Kick-Off

Co-chairs Lynn and Allan McBee, along with honorary chairs Karen and Stephen Jones, welcomed over fifty committee members for a cocktail reception kicking off the upcoming Building Hope Celebration Dinner presented by Pioneer Natural Resources on Wednesday, June 11 at the home of Micki and Mayor Mike Rawlings Upon arrival guests were greeted by hosts Mayor and Mrs. Rawlings before mingling over wine and delicious hors d’oeuvres from Cassandra Fine Catering and admiring the beautiful contemporary venue.

Midway through the evening, Mrs. Rawlings welcomed guests and toasted the crowd for their support of the October 9 fundraiser, which in her own words, “will be an historic event for Dallas as thousands of volunteers from around the country will have the opportunity to see the incredible work that is being done in our great city to revitalize neighborhoods by providing affordable housing for low-income families.”
 
Co-chair Lynn McBee then reminded everyone that President Carter will turn 90 years old four days before the 31st annual build begins. Adding, “what an amazing volunteer he has been for Habitat, as well as an incredible example to us all on giving back to the
community.”

Bill Hall, president and CEO of Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, added his thanks to the event co-chairs, honorary chairs as well as committee chairs and the event committee. “The revitalization efforts that will take place through out the week of this nationally recognized Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project, can only happen because of the strong leadership present here tonight,” remarked Hall.

As the evening came to a close, guests were given a take-home treat of a house-shaped cookie as a reminder of home sweet home.
 
The Building Hope Celebration Dinner presented by Pioneer Natural Resources, will be a Texas-style celebration in support of the 2014 Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project, where thousands of volunteers will help to build hope for low-income families in North Texas the week of October 5 -11, 2014. On Thursday, October 9 at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, event chairmen Lynn and Allan McBee, along with honorary chairmen Karen and Stephen Jones, will welcome one thousand attendees for this special evening. Highlights will include a VIP reception presented by Amanda and G. Brint Ryan, cocktail reception, multi-course dinner on the field and soon to be announced entertainment.
