TheDallas Museum of Art announces Danielle Rollins, best-selling author and
contributing editor to Veranda
magazine, as the featured speaker for the DMA League’s Art in Bloom 2014. Chaired
by Barbara Durham, with honorary chairman Barbara Bigham, the annual floral
symposium and luncheon will be held at the Museum on Monday, October 27, 2014,
at 10:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit the
Dallas Museum of Art’s exhibition and education programs and the DMA League’s
Floral Endowment Fund.
“We
are so thrilled to have Danielle Rollins as our featured speaker for this
year’s Art in Bloom,” remarked Ms. Durham, Art in Bloom chairman. “Danielle is not only a wonderful writer, but
also an expert on the art of entertaining, including the importance of floral
décor. Her great sense of style and
humor, along with her approachable, how-to advice will be a wonderful addition
to this year’s fundraiser.”
In
addition to serving as the contributing editor for Veranda magazine, Rollins is a frequent contributor to Southern Living and Lifestyle. Author of the
bestseller Soirée: Entertaining with
Style, she is a dedicated doyenne of domesticity who can guide viewers,
readers and listeners on entertaining, cooking, interior design, tabletop,
gardening, flower arranging and holiday decorating, in a snap, using her
prescriptive, uniquely chic, creative, original, practical and pretty Simple
Little Things™, ideas, tips and how-to advice for achieving beauty for everyday
living, home decorating and flawless entertaining.
Following Rollins’ lecture, guests
will enjoy a seated luncheon in the Museum’s Atrium, with centerpieces by
floral sponsor Cebolla Fine Flowers, and informal modeling with fashions by
Hadleigh’s. Always a highlight, patrons
can bid on art-inspired floral arrangements designed by renowned Dallas
florists in the silent auction, as well as live auction items.
Luncheon
guests will be among the first to view the DMA’s exhibition Bouquets: French Still-Life Painting from
Chardin to Matisse, which premieres on October 26, 2014. The exhibition focuses on the floral
still-life genre, which will be a perfect companion to the celebration.
