TACA Gives Out Record $1.3M in Grants to North Texas PAOs in 2013

Dallas' premier umbrella arts organization TACA, The Arts Community Alliance, had a banner year fundraising in 2012, allowing the organization to distribute $1.3 million to diverse and deserving North Texas performing arts organizations. Of that amount, $1.2 million was distributed on January 28 at the TACA Grant Awards Presentation, presented by Bank of Texas, at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre. Hosting the event was the AT&T Performing Arts Center. The additional $100,000 will be distributed later this year in June as part of the TACA Donna Wilhelm Family New Works Fund.

"Bravo to all those who supported TACA, who attended one of our events, who support the performing arts by attending a play, a performance, a musical and more," said Nancy Carlson, Chair of TACA's Board of Directors.

In 2013, TACA's grants awarded will help support more than 5,073 performances that approximately 1.4 million people will attend. Ranging from $5,000 to $110,000, TACA grants are being awarded to a varied group of North Texas' performing arts organizations, from the very large and established to the newly emerging.

New organizations being funded this year are AT&T Performing Arts Center, Bruce Wood Dance Project, Lone Star Circus Arts Center, Nasher Sculpture Center, New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving, and Plano Symphony Orchestra.

Dallas Show Brings World Class Exhibitors and Rare Collections to Texas

November 2-6 the Irving Convention Center was transformed into one of the finest art, antique and jewelry exhibits in the world.  Guests at the Dallas International Art, Antique & Jewelry Show were impressed at the size, quality and caliber of the show.  With approximately 100 international exhibitors and more than 50,000 items for purchase, it was a show that exceeded all expectations!

Barbara Daseke, chaired the private preview party on Wednesday evening benefiting TACA (The Arts Community Alliance).  A $15,000 check was presented to TACA by Scott Diament and Rob Samuels, owners of the Palm Beach Show Group.  Hundreds of prominent collectors, industry experts, serious buyers and an A-list of guests attended a sneak peak of the show! Guests enjoyed a spectacular champagne reception.

The Dallas International Art, Antique & Jewelry Show was a virtual treasure trove with collections of fine art, sculpture, furniture, silver, textiles, bronze, jewelry, Americana, rare books, porcelain, ceramics, watches, clocks, Asian art and antiques, carpets, glass and more ranging in date from the antiquities to the 20th century. Many of the items were of museum or exhibition quality including, but not limited to, illuminated manuscripts exhibited by Dr. Joern Guenther, Dr. Joern Guenther Rare Books, AG.

Sarah Perot and John Eagle will join an esteemed list of arts and culture philanthropists when they are honored with the 2011 award during the 33rd Annual Silver Cup Award Luncheon.

Civic Volunteer and former Dallas mayor Annette Strauss created the Silver Cup Award Luncheon, which has been held annually since 1979, to recognize one man and one woman for their outstanding contributions to the arts in Dallas. The award symbolizes philanthropic excellence in the areas of art and culture.

TACA Silver Cup Luncheon Presented by Chase and Neiman Marcus






Patrons of the Performing Arts are looking forward to the 2010 TACA Silver Cup Luncheon Presented by Chase and Neiman Marcus this Friday, March 5 in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Anatole. Chairman Rebecca Fletcher who has been very involved in the Arts for many years will welcome a nearly sold-out crowd.

The highlight of this Luncheon is the presentation of the 2010 Silver Cup Award which is given to one woman and one man for their outstanding contributions to the Arts in Dallas. This year’s award recipients are Cindy Rachofsky and John T. Cody, Jr.

Cindy is the Chairman of the Trustee Nominating Committee, Board Member and Executive Committee Member for the Dallas Museum of Art and serves on the President’s Advisory Council for the AT&T Performing Arts Center. She and her husband, Howard annually host Two x Two for Aids and Art which has raised over $21 million over the last 10 years.

John served on the Board of Directors of the Dallas Opera before becoming President of the Board and then Chairman. He then assumed the position of Interim General Director of the Dallas Opera twice. Before retiring, John was the President and Chief Operating Officer of JCPenney.

TACA's mission is to provide financial support and services and to increase public awareness and participation in the performing arts of North Texas, which improve the quality of life for citizens of all economic, social and ethnic backgrounds. On February 1, they distributed $1,000,000 to 35 performing arts organizations such as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Dallas Children’s Theater, Irving Symphony Orchestra and the Dallas Museum of Art.

TACA's Proscenium Weekend presented by ALON USA and the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek




Delicious cuisine, fabulous wines, unique and spectacular auction items and entertainment flown in from New York is to be enjoyed at TACA’s Proscenium Weekend presented by ALON USA and the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek!!

This third annual weekend extravaganza kicks off Thursday, night September 10 with the TACA RBC Wealth Management Custom Auction Gala. Chaired by Dee and Glenn Simmons the black-tie evening features a seated dinner in the restaurant and both the Burford and FDR Suites. Following a spectacular live auction, guests will enjoy entertainment provided by the Loston Harris Trio, direct from Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, New York. Underwriting levels are from $2,000 to $12,000. Individual tickets are from $500 to $1,500.

The next evening, guests will enjoy cuisine from the Rosewood Mansion's Chef Eric Brandt and Chef David Collier along with approximately 15 celebrity chefs including Chef Roland Mesnier, former White House pastry chef and Chef Martin Yan of the PBS cooking show "Yan Can Cook!" This Friday fete under the stars, chaired by D’Andra Simmons will also feature a fabulous silent auction created by the chefs, a Wine Cork Pull and live entertainment. Casual attire. Table of 10 is $5,000; tickets are $350 or $500.

Close out the weekend honing your cooking skills and adding to your wine list. Watch culinary experts demonstrate the latest and greatest cooking techniques followed by a three-course lunch at the TACA Mega Capital Culinary Master Class. Michael Flynn, The Rosewood Mansion's Food and Beverage Director will select wines to complement each course. This class is from 11:00am to 1:00pm and will be held at the Milestone Culinary Arts Center and The Viking Cooking School. Tickets are $125.

Since its inception in 1966, TACA has raised and distributed more than $14.6 million to 115 performing arts organizations from proceeds of the TACA Silver Cup Award Luncheon, TACA RBC Wealth Management Auction Gala, TACA Board of Governors, Party on the Green, and other events. Last year was the second consecutive year, TACA granted $1 million to the North Texas Performing Arts Community.
