The Betsy Project is a grassroots fundraising effort in partnership with MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston dedicated to raise money for a rare form of cancer known as leiomyosarcoma (LMS). The project was started when Dallas resident, Betsy Vincent was diagnosed with this disease in 2006. Betsy is a delightful, wonderful woman, mother, wife, friend and a big supporter in our community, not to mention determined. Her oncologist, Joseph Ludwig told her if he had $200,000 he could then hire a research team to give complete focus to LMS -- therefore that is what our community is trying to do. This could not only be a breakthrough for LMS patients, but could find treatments for all forms of sarcoma, too.
