Fill Empty Bowls with North Texas Food Bank


The North Texas Food Bank’s signature luncheon, Empty Bowls, presented by Tom Thumb, marks its 12th anniversary on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Meyerson Symphony Center serving up unlimited steaming bowls of soups and bisques, breads and desserts from 20-plus of the city’s top restaurants and food purveyors. VIP reception starts at 10:30 a.m. and guests are allowed to pick their bowl first and enjoy special, exclusive treats.

For $35 in advance or $40 at the door, guests enjoy the best lunch deal in town and listen to classical music by Young Strings of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, plus each diner selects a handmade bowl created by an area artisan to take home as a party favor. This year new restaurants include: Bolsa, Truluck’s, Pizza Inn, Horne & Dekker, Empire Baking Co., Chill Bubble Tea, and Freeb!rds World Burrito. Purchase tickets here.

The North Texas Food Bank serves 1,146 feeding and education programs in 13 North Texas counties. Every dollar donated equals three meals.

Resounding Harmony Fall Concert

Seven years ago, Turtle Creek Chorale created a program called Partners In Harmony. Its mission is to appeal to religious organizations that affirm our belief that every human being is created equal. Today, Partners in Harmony comprises nearly 50 churches and 2 synagogues. This concert features over 300 singers comprising a Partners In Harmony massed choir performing peace anthems by Bach, Mendelssohn and Moses Hogan. Also on the program is John Rutter's electrifying GLORIA for brass, percussion, organ and chorus.

Symphonic Celebration


The 2009 Dallas Symphony Orchestra AT&T Gala is celebrating its 20th Anniversary on Saturday the 12th of September, 2009. This years amazing Gala Chairs, Barbara and Steve Durham, have put together an amazing partnership of honorees. Temerlin McClain co-founder, Liener Temerlin, and his charming wife Karla are the honorary chairs and the esteemed Van Cliburn is the honoroary Gala Artist. The Gala is dedicated to the great "Meyerson Legends" including Margo and Ross Perot, Margaret McDermott, Morton H. Meyerson and the late Annette Strauss among others. There are the people who made the Meyerson Symphony Center come to life. Word at the Meyerson is that the beautiful Anna-Sophia van Zweden is the honorary chair for the after-party!
