Toys for Tots 2020 holiday campaign

 

October 1, 2020 marked the official kick-off for the Toys for Tots 2020 holiday campaign running through Christmas.  U.S. Marines and 35,000+ volunteers will be conducting 810 local toy collection and distribution campaigns in all 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, Guam, and U.S. Virgin Islands.

There is an estimated 15 million children living in poverty.  The mission of Marine Toys for Tots is to bring the joy of Christmas to less fortunate children with the goal of delivering a message of hope that will inspire youngsters to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.  The objectives include having a positive impact on the development of children, creating or restoring self-esteem, and bringing all elements of communities together in a common cause for three months each year.

CPD Annual Toy Drive - Because Every Child Deserves to Wish...

Community Partners of Dallas (CPD) will mark two milestones this holiday season:  the agency’s twenty-fifth anniversary and the urgent need to fulfill the largest number of holiday wishes for abused and neglected children in the organization’s Toy Drive history. 

 

CPD is asking the community to help give the gift of hope this holiday season by supporting their annual Toy Drive, and ensuring they can fulfill over 8100 wishes for abused and neglected children in the care of Child Protective Services.  The number of wishes that need to be fulfilled this year is an increase of 1134 wishes from last year’s drive.  

 

The Community Partners of Dallas Toy Drive is unique in that the wishes are brought to the agency by CPS caseworkers on behalf of the children in their care, and those same caseworkers will have the wonderful opportunity to deliver these gifts personally.  By supporting the Toy Drive, individuals, organizations and companies will be granting specific gift requests to these children, making them feel special and giving them a holiday they will remember. 

As Natosha Hooks, a CPS caseworker, shared, “I had a case with seven children in the family.  The oldest child, who was 13 years old, told me that for Christmas they get one toy and he, as the oldest, plays with it first and then it goes down the line to the smallest kids who get to keep it.  This Christmas they all had their own toys thanks to the generosity of Community Partners of Dallas.”

 

Wish cards can be filled by companies, churches, scout troops, business offices, or individuals.  Organizations and individuals can also organize a new toy drive for the undesignated toy collection used to serve additional children who come into CPS care after the wish list deadline and to fill wishes not selected by donors. This year’s most popular wishes include bikes, African American dolls, items from Disney’s FROZEN, Barbies, basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, learning toys for toddlers, like a Vtech Learning Laptop, Dora dolls, MP3 players, LEGO sets, Tonka trucks and Bath and Body Works sets.

 

All gifts should be new and not wrapped.  Toys must be delivered to the Community Partners of Dallas Toy Drive Workshop at the Peacock Alley Warehouse located at 2050 Postal Way, Dallas, Texas 75212 no later than 1:00 p.m. on December 12.

Food Trucks for Tots this Saturday

On Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 11:00am-5:00pm, Dallas and Fort Worth food trucks are gathering at The Shops at Park Lane, 8080 Park Lane, Dallas, Texas 75231 for a toy drive for the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of Toys for Tots. Over 10 United States Marines will be on hand to take toy donations and guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for a needy child. Pictures with Santa will be available in addition to live music, bounce houses, and vendors for holiday shopping.

In partnership with local schools including Naaman Forest, students will be encouraged to collect toys and bring them to the event with their family. With 15 confirmed food trucks will be on-site including Rock And Roll Tacos, Easy Slider Truck, Doughboys Pizza, Parrot Ice, Ruthie’s Rolling Café, Cup Cakin, Mo’ Joe a Go-Go Coffee Truck and more.

Guests are encouraged to ride the DART Rail to the Park Lane Station. DFW FOOD TRUCK GROUP, The Shops at Park Lane, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, Durty Laundry and other local sponsors bring this event to you.

Are you still hoping to donate to a local toy drive this holiday season? It's not too late!

WFAA’s Santa's Helpers is celebrating its 43rd year of collecting holiday toys for more than 50,000 children throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth counties of Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton.

There is one last toy collection scheduled this Wednesday, December 19, from 5:00-10:00 pm.  Bring a new unwrapped toy to the WFAA studio at Victory Plaza near the American Airlines Center.

Sprinkles Trades Treats For Toys

Sprinkles trades treats for toys with a holiday toy drive! Support this sweet cause by bringing in a new, unwrapped toy to Sprinkles between November 26 and December 14 and receive a free cupcake of your choice. All toys will be donated to Children's Medical Center in time for the holidays.

Frisco Reach Out Spreads The Joy of Christmas

On December 11, 2010, Frisco Reach Out will host its second annual Christmas event, The Joy of Christmas, to supply needy and under-privileged families of Frisco with new toys, boxes of food and gently-used clothing.

They are in need of donations and volunteers. Show up early! Volunteers at 7am and registration begins at 7:30am. A list of suggested items follows. They are trying to collect over 400 $10 toys and over 100 boxes of non-perishable food. Tax receipts are available upon request.
