Red Cross Japan

Justin and I just returned from an amazing trip to East Asia that included a few days in Tokyo, Japan.  I was so taken with the Japanese people and their friendly charm and grace.  I loved seeing the flags of the Red Cross and Japan hanging side by side on almost every lamp post in the city. As a board member for the American Red Cross in Dallas, I was so excited to catch an exhibit about Empress Shoken and the Red Cross.  She was a revered Empress who dedicated her life to caring for others in need and she established the Red Cross in Japan over 100 years ago with a donation equivalent to about 33 million dollars.  The Empress Shoken Fund continues to keep the Red Cross alive in Japan today.   The exhibit was fantastic! Click here to learn more about their history and the great work they continue to do.
