Wee Volunteer - July Schedule


Are you looking for ways to get your littles involved in volunteering?  Our friends at Wee Volunteer organize fun, age-appropriate, service learning projects with local organizations in the community.  They have a full schedule for July.  Contact michellechase@weevolunteer.org to RSVP or for more information on any of these exciting events.

Meals On Wheels needs your help! Help deliver meals with Wee Volunteer on LOCOMOTION PARTY BUS. After the deliveries, you will tour the volunteer kitchen and learn about Meals On Wheels.

Appropriate for children ages 2 and up
Space is limited to 28 volunteers per project
The fee for this project is $10 per person to cover the cost of the project.

SPCA
Thursday, July 18th 3:30-4:30

Wee Volunteer invites you and your child to the SPCA. You will tour the SPCA and learn about animal care. Help color treat bags and cards for the staff. In McKinney, you will feed the horses, donkeys and pigs.

Appropriate for children ages 3 - 13
Space is limited to 15 volunteers per project.
The fee for this project is $10 per child to cover the cost of project including a tour fee paid to the SPCA.

Citizenship Counts
Thursday, July 18th 10:30-12:00
 
Wee Volunteer and Citizenship Counts invite you and your child to the US District Court of the Northern District of Texas to learn about US citizenship and participate in a naturalization ceremony. The Judge will speak with the kids before the ceremony, and then you will help new citizens celebrate their naturalization by giving them pre-made "I love citizenship" cards. 
 
Appropriate for children ages 6 and up
Space is limited to 15 volunteers per project.
The fee for this project is $10 per family to cover the cost of project.

Vogel Alcove
Friday, July 19th 2:30-3:30

Vogel Alcove is the only free comprehensive early childhood education program in the City of Dallas that serves 115 children and their families referred by local emergency shelters, domestic violence shelters, housing programs and organizations that serve homeless families.  In addition to taking a tour of the facility and watching a video on homelessness, volunteers will make playdough to give to the kids at Vogel.

Appropriate for children ages 7 and up
Space is limited to 15 volunteers per project.
The fee for this project is $10 per family to cover the cost of project.

Wipe Out Graffiti
Saturday, July 20th 9:00-10:00 am

Wee Volunteer is partnering with the City of Dallas to Wipe Out Graffiti.  Volunteers will learn about the importance of keeping Dallas beautiful from a City Representative. Home Depot will provide paint and paint brushes, and Wee Volunteers will do the rest!

Appropriate for children 5 and up
Space is limited to 15 children per project.
This project is $15 per family to cover the cost of the project.

Vickery Meadows
Tuesday, July 23rd 3:30-5:30

Our neighbors in Vickery Meadows are in need. Please join Wee Volunteer at the Pebbles Apartments where you will learn about Vickery Meadows and the plight of the residents. Then Mommy Manders will help celebrate the July birthdays of the children living at Pebbles by throwing a real birthday party for these kids with cupcakes, games, presents and a lot of birthday cheer!

Space is limited to 20 volunteers.
Volunteers will be sent a list of the needed supplies to bring.

Musical Outreach
Thursday, July 25th 3:30-4:30

Bring your little ones to celebrate Christmas in July with Mommy Manders! Volunteers will gather in the lobby at Churchill Estates of Lake Highlands to make cards for the elderly residents. Then, you will sing songs, dance and play instruments with the residents.

Appropriate for children ages 12 months and up 
Space is limited to 20 volunteers.
A minimum donation of $10 per child to Wee Volunteer is required to cove the cost of the project.

Dallas Furniture Bank
Monday, July 22nd 3:30-4:30

Join Wee Volunteer at the Dallas Furniture Bank. Its mission is to provide furniture that meets basic living needs of individuals and families transitioning from homelessness or to others in need. You will tour the warehouse and learn about the Dallas Furniture Bank, and then Wee Volunteers will dust furniture! This will be a FUN, educational project that will help an amazing organization.

Share Our Space
Tuesday, July 30th 3:30-4:30 

Family Gateway provides housing and comprehensive services to homeless families with children empowering them to move from their current crisis back to self-sufficiency. Volunteers will tour the homeless shelter, learn about homelessness and then join the children living at the Family Gateway for fun science experiments with the LAB AT LAKEWOOD!

Appropriate for children 5 and up
Space is limited to 20 volunteers per project.
This project is $15 per child to cover the cost of the project.
