UNICEF Experience Drew Local Support for Global Issue

On Friday, March 1, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF hosted The UNICEF Experience Dallas, a one-of-a-kind event designed to raise funds for UNICEF and engage the local community around issues facing children across the globe. The second annual UNICEF Experience drew hundreds of local supporters, including Jessica Nowitzki, Catie and Aaron Enrico, Cavan and Sallie Groves, Mr. Faisal Halum and Brian Bolke, Jo Marie Lilly, Sheryl and Eric Maas, Lynn and Allan McBee, Ms. Selwyn A. Rayzor and Mr. Richard Moses, Gowri and Alex Sharma.

Guests got an insider view of UNICEF’s innovative programs in water and sanitation, emergencies, education, health and nutrition, and child protection; experienced what many vulnerable children in developing countries face just to survive; and had the opportunity to make a difference—all without leaving Dallas.

They also heard from Robert Thompson, Senior Vice President of Development at the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, who spoke about the importance of UNICEF’s global work on behalf of children and expressed his appreciation for the generous and ongoing support from the local community. “Without you, there are literally no resources to buy therapeutic food; to install water pumps; to train teachers; to provide lifesaving immunizations,” Thompson said in his address to attendees. “You make the lifesaving work of UNICEF possible.  The UNICEF story begins with each of us and ends with a child.”

The event was chaired by Rich Moses and Joyce Goss of the Goss-Michael Foundation—where the event took place. UNICEF Ambassador Vern Yip of HGTV was this year’s National Event Chair.
