Tembi Locke is a Hollywood actor, TEDx speaker on resilience, advocate, and New York Times bestselling author of From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home, which was a Reese Witherspoon Book Club x Hello Sunshine pick and is being adapted into a Netflix series, directed by Witherspoon. Author Laila Lalami praises it as “a marvelous memoir about taking chances, finding love, and building a home away from home. In From Scratch, Tembi Locke writes movingly about loss, grief, and the healing miracle of food.” The book includes 16 recipes from Locke’s summers in Sicily.

DMA "State of the Arts" series

DALLAS MUSEUM OF ART

announces the Second season of

“STATE OF THE ARTS”

State of the Arts is a series of five evenings with eleven of Dallas’s key artistic leaders in thought-provoking conversations about the arts and the cultural landscape of Dallas. The series allows for stimulating conversation with an ongoing focus on creativity, imagination, and passion for the visual and performing arts of Dallas, connecting artists, dancers, actors, and musicians.

The second season will premiere on September 22 with Jaap van Zweden, Music Director of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and Texas-based artist Trenton Doyle Hancock.

State of the Arts will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Museum’s Horchow Auditorium on five different evenings. Each lecture will present a pair of arts leaders and will be moderated by KERA’s Jeff Whittington.

The lectures are free with general admission to the Museum, but reservations are encouraged.
