Evening Under the Stars raises $1.1 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

This year’s annual St. Jude Evening Under the Stars Party on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Omni Dallas Hotel, and the St. Jude Golf Classic on Monday, Oct. 26, at the Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, Texas, raised more than $1 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital^® to support its mission: Finding cures. Saving children.

Event co-chairs Doug and Holly Brooks hosted approximately 1,000 guests at the “cowboy chic” party that included a cocktail reception, sit-down dinner and both live and silent auctions. The Dallas String Quartet Electric provided the entertainment, and many big-ticket items were auctioned off, including two tickets to the final round of the Masters Golf Tournament, a private sailboat getaway through the British Virgin Islands and two private dinners at Chef Kent Rathbun’s house.

Emcee David Feherty, commentator, author, show host and former pro-golfer welcomed Richard Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for a presentation to the women of Delta Delta Delta Fraternity (Tri Delta) that recognized their ongoing commitment to St. Jude families. Following his speech, St. Jude patient Hailey shared her personal battle against cancer.

Following dinner, more than 250 young professionals gathered for an after party hosted in the Katy Trail Ballroom of the Omni Dallas Hotel. The event featured live entertainment, cocktails and hors d’oeurves.

St. Jude Evening Under the Stars was a Successful Night of Bubbles & Bling!

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is thrilled to announce that the 2013 Evening Under the Stars Party and Golf Classic, held recently at the Omni Dallas Hotel and Stonebriar Country Club, raised $900,876 for St. Jude in their efforts to advance cancer research.

Event co-chairs Marian Haggar Bryan and Lydia Haggar Novakov, along with party chair Cindy Feld, hosted about 830 guests at the festive cowboy chic party Saturday night at the Omni Dallas Hotel, complete with live and silent auctions, performances from some of Nashville’s top singer-songwriters, a seated dinner and much more.  Guests mingled amongst the silent auction to start the evening, and the room was filled with glasses of Bubbles & Bling (they sold 100 glasses of champagne for $100 to raise funds for St. Jude – one glass had a 1 carat diamond, and the other 99 had a 1 carat CZ stone) and blinking star pins (each star cost $100 and raised money for the Platelet Fund at St. Jude).

During the seated dinner, emcee Carrie McClure welcomed Rick Shadyac, the CEO of ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, for a special presentation to thank Chili’s Grill & Bar for their donation of $50 million, the largest donation from a single-partner campaign in the hospital’s history. After the dinner and presentation, Leticia Frye captivated the crowd with her auctioneering skills and successfully auctioned off 10 packages, the highlight being a Dine Around Town with Kent Rathbun. Rathbun took the stage and ended up donating two packages to the two highest bidders.

Evening Under the Stars ended with an unforgettable performance by songwriters from Nashville, including Sonny Curtis, Tommy Lee James, Don Poythress and Phillip White.

St. Jude Hosts Annual Events, Big & Rich Style

Hundreds gathered at The Omni Dallas Hotel on Saturday evening, October 13th to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and their annual Evening Under the Stars Party.

Co-Chairs Lydia Novakov and Marian Bryan greeted guests at the fabulous event that featured cocktails, dinner and a private performance by superstars Kenny Alphine and John Rich of the duo - Big & Rich.

This year’s event honored Mary and Mike Terry for their continued commitment to St. Jude.  Following the main party, St. Jude hosted the first Evening Under the Stars After Party with Dallas-based band The Rusty Brothers.

$805,000 was raised this year for the kids of St. Jude, between the party and the golf tournament, which took place Monday, October 14th.

St. Jude Celebrates BIG (& Rich)

Co-chairs Lydia Novakov and Marian Bryan greeted more than 150 people at the Diamond Doctor on June 25th and shared why 2012 is a special year for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

In their second year as event chairs, the daughters of St. Jude champion, the late Joe Haggar Jr., announced that the Evening Under the Stars Party will be held at a new venue, feature country and western music sensation Big and Rich, host their first Evening Under the Stars After Party and celebrate St. Jude’s 50th anniversary.

Kick Off Party guests learned that the Evening Under the Stars Party (EUTS) will be held on Saturday, October 13th at the new Omni Dallas Hotel and feature cocktails, dinner and a private performance by superstars Kenny Alphine and John Rich of chart busting duo Big & Rich. This year’s event will honor Mary and Mike Terry for the continued commitment to St. Jude. In addition, EUTS attendees will enjoy a live and silent auction. Following the main party, St. Jude will host the first Evening Under the Stars After Party continuing through 1am which will spotlight The Rusty Brothers, a Dallas based band. Consistently Ranked in the Top 5 charity golf tournaments by the Dallas Business Journal, the St. Jude Golf Classic will be held on Monday, October 15th at Stonebriar Country Club. The Classic allows golfers to play on teams of four ($500 a team) and can participate in either a morning (8:30am) or afternoon (1:45pm) shotgun start. Morning players will wrap up with a luncheon and awards ceremony, while the afternoon awards will be presented during an end-of-day cocktail awards reception. Past participating celebrities include Derek Harper, Lee Trevino, Roger Staubach, Tim Brown, Chad Campbell, Harrison Frazar, Rudy Gatlin and more. Cost for a team of four is $2000 and an individual golf spot is $500.

The co-chairs, Leadership Committee as well as Host Committee members including Holly and Doug Brooks, Troy Aikman, Micki and Mayor Mike Rawlings and Cheri and Pat Summerall are excited to host successful events during St. Jude's 50th Anniversary celebration.
