Save Sea Turtles with Dallas Zoo at South Padre Island

 

Dallas Zoo’s Wild Earth Action Team is on a mission to restore sea turtle habitats on South Padre Island, and YOU are invited to join! You will learn about sea turtle conservation and ecology while helping partners at Sea Turtle Inc. restore nesting habitat.
To make the most out of your trip, they recommend staying on the island Friday, June 25 through Sunday, June 27.
Activities will include:
  • Tour of the Sea Turtle Inc. campus
  • Turtle Talk with the Sea Turtle Inc. team
  • Full day of Sea Turtle Conservation Projects
    • Habitat restoration (all ages)
    • Sea turtle nest sites – barrier protection maintenance (ages 18 and up)
    • Sea turtle rehabilitation facility maintenance (ages 18 and up)
    • If sea turtles hatch, you may attend an early morning sea turtle release into the Gulf. (all ages) *
Your registration fee includes:
  • Activities listed above
  • Morning snacks, lunch, and dinner included on Saturday, June 26th
  • Registration fees help support the Dallas Zoo conservation fund
  • *Turtle releases are not guaranteed. It is recommended to stay on the island Friday evening through Sunday morning for the best chance of attending a release.
  • Transportation and lodging are not included.
