"We want to create a group of young leaders that feel empowered to go out into the community to advocate for Texas children" - Executive Director, David Handcock
Heroes for Children is setting out to create an environment where Teens and Young Adults have the tools and support they need to go out into their community and become servant-oriented leaders.
The Heroes for Children Young Leaders (HFCYL) is a leadership board comprised of 30 young leaders eager to advocate for children battling cancer. Incoming 9th - 12th graders will do so by hosting events, fundraising, and serving in their local community.
They are doing this by taking their existing Heroes for Children Teen Board structure and reimagining it to better support the current members of the teen board, the community, and most importantly the families they serve.
At Heroes for Children, their highest priority is to assist families both financially and in sharing their stories. The Teen Board has been an intricate part of Heroes for Children's journey. There is nothing more impactful than seeing kids go out into their communities armed with stories from their peers with a mission to educate and advocate.
Applications for the Dallas and Houston chapters are now open through June 18th. Find out more information and apply here:
