This summer, the Cliburn is hosting an Amateur Piano Video Contest, and public online voting is open now through August 15. The contest is for amateur classical pianists age 35 and older, who do not derive their primary source of income from the playing, teaching, or composing of piano music. Forty entrants with professions ranging from journalism to pharmacy and software engineering to preschool teaching submitted 5-10 minute videos. They hail from six countries and 19 U.S. states plus D.C.
The winner of the Cliburn Amateur Piano Video Contest will be announced on August 19, 2014 and will receive automatic entry into the seventh International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs™ to be held summer 2016.
