The 26th Annual Crimes Against Children Conference, an internationally-recognized conference for professionals from the fields of law enforcement, prosecution, child protective services, social work, children’s advocacy, therapy, and medicine who work directly with child victims of crime is presented by the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center and the Dallas Police Department. The conference will be from August 11-14, 2014 at the Sheraton Hotel on Olive Street in Dallas.
The Crimes Against Children Conference is the premier conference of its kind providing practical and interactive instruction to those fighting crimes against children and helping children heal. Twenty-six years ago, the Crimes Against Children Conference started with just two speakers, Brian Killacky and Ken Lanning who provided training to a group of only 50 law enforcement professionals. This year’s conference is expected to bring more than 3,000 attendees from across North America and numerous other countries.
The opening plenary of the Conference will feature state of the industry remarks by Joe Sullivan, Chief Security Officer at Facebook, FBI Director James Comey will provide a keynote, and Kevin Mulcahy, Assistant District Attorney in Detroit, will deliver the survivor address. Participants will also hear fascinating details of many notable cases from child abuse experts around the world including the investigation and prosecution of the Cleveland Gang Rape Case, the kidnapping and homicide of 5th grader Jessica Ridgeway and a case study in which a victim was kept as a sex slave in a backyard shed, eerily similar to the case of Jaycee Dugard.
Attendees will engage in interactive workshops, hands-on computer labs and specialized training in the areas of: child pornography investigations, missing children and child abductions, internet investigations and sex trafficking. This year’s conference rivals any other conference across the globe with a large focus on interactive technology and fighting child abuse online.
