Set
in the fictitious town of Walker ,
Texas near Dallas , Giffin not only
used Dallas ’ Southern
Methodist University football as her inspiration – but also weaves in pals Sandy
and Barry Moore, who are long-time supporters of Community Partners of Dallas. The big surprise for CPD fans comes on page
326 when one of Giffin’s characters mentions donating Dallas Cowboys items to
“Community Partners of Dallas, a charity for abused children.”

Partygoers
mingled over wine and hors d’oeuvres as they eagerly waited for Giffin to
autograph copies of her new book, which were available for purchase. Giffin chatted and posed for photos
throughout the night to the delight of the crowd.
