Friends of the Park invites you to Saint Ann Restaurant tonight for a casual social gathering and to hear from Park advocate, Mike Rawlings.
Dallas Park and Recreation Board President, Mike Rawlings, will encourage future leaders by sharing stories of private citizens making a real difference in Dallas. Rawlings brings his experience as the former CEO of Pizza Hut, and his tenure as the city’s homeless czar, to his new role on the Park board.
Within three years, Rawlings wants Dallas to be one of the top five park systems in the United States. Since his appointment in August 2010, Rawlings has set major goals aimed at running the Dallas park system like a successful business. He has begun creating partnerships between corporations, non-profits and private philanthropists to assist in funding park operations and maintenance. He has also set a goal of increasing citizen use of the park system by 5% each year. Overall, he wants to make Dallas more physically fit, more beautiful and more FUN!
