Super Kids Save the World at Sci-Tech

Super Kids Save the World begins its world-saving mission at Sci-Tech Discovery Center on Saturday, June 8.   The world is in trouble and it's up the super kids to do something about it.  How?  Thinking and doing!  Save electricity with a flip of a light switch.  When things break, don't throw them away.  Turn an old tablecloth into a superhero cape.  Fight pollution and take another simple step toward saving the world by recycling one aluminum can at a time.  Ordinary kids make a difference.

Super Kids Save the World is based on the British children's book, George Saves the World by Lunchtime written by Jo Readman and illustrated by Ley Honor Roberts. The book features an ordinary family who in the course of a day "save the world" simply by making responsible choices. George, Flora, and Grandpa demonstrate that by taking simple steps, families can become eco-friendly super-heroes in their own communities.

At the Super Kids Save the World exhibit, kids can tag along on George's heroic adventure and have a super time donning cape and boots to become an energy-saving super hero, peddling a bike to light up a city street, visiting a Farmer's Market, dressing up at the Reuse Charity Shop, making science discoveries about alternative energy sources in the Research Lab, tearing up old newspapers for the bunny's hutch, and decorating get well cards using leftover wrapping paper and other reusable supplies for children staying in local hospitals and much more. Kids and their parents have the power to go green at this super exhibit. Super-hero training starts here with the four R's: Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle!

Sci-Tech Discovery Center is located at 8004 Dallas Parkway, Frisco, Texas 75034.
Summer Hours:
Mon-Fri 10 am – 5 pm
Saturday 10 am6 pm

Tickets are now available for the 5th annual Brainiac Bowl to benefit Sci-Tech Discovery Center that will be held at Starbase Aviation in Addison on Saturday, February 23rd from 6:30 - 10:00 pm.  Brainiac Bowl is a casual, lively evening with 400 guests enjoying a themed buffet dinner, cocktails, live music, silent and live auction, and the main event - a trivia competition among tables for the coveted title of Brainiac Bowl Champions. The friendly rivalry consists of two rounds of lightening-quick play answering multiple-choice questions ranging from novice to expert in a variety of topics.

This year's theme Passport to Discovery, aptly set in a private jet hangar, will celebrate travel around the world. Each table is a team, and the team will decide on which destination to represent and coordinate "uniforms" or attire accordingly, along with a catchy team name. Animal Grossology

*VIP Preview Party for adults only*

Prepare to be totally en-GROSS-ed! Welcome to the interactive exhibition that takes a slightly different view of Fluffy, Fido and the rest of the Animal Kingdom in “Animal Grossology,” premiering at Sci-Tech Discovery Center (“Sci-Tech”) September 22 through December 30, 2012.  Following in the footsteps of the overwhelmingly popular “Grossology, the (Impolite) Science of the Human Body” exhibition, comes the next generation in the GROSSOLOGY series. Oozing with disgusting science and interactive learning games, the all-new “Animal Grossology” exhibit is sure to provide a unique perspective on the animal kingdom. Sci-Tech, in conjunction with Advanced Exhibits, the exhibit’s producer, invites the public to experience some of the slimiest, stinkiest and downright yuckiest creatures on earth. “Animal Grossology” opens September 22, 2012, and is sponsored by Baylor Medical Center at Frisco, ESI and individual participants in Sci-Tech’s Gross Giving Campaign.

The exhibition contains solid science and introduces it in a way that makes kids giggle.  It’s science disguised in interactive entertainment and kids are more apt to learn when they’re having fun doing it. You may think leeches are pretty gross but they’re used after some surgeries to assist in the healing process.

Sci-Tech Discovery Center in Frisco is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm,
Saturday from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm and Sunday from noon until 6:00 pm. The center is closed on Mondays. Tickets are $7.00 and children two and under are free. Group rates are available for groups of ten or more. Annual family memberships start at only $85 and include invitations to exhibit premiers and additional discounts to other camps and parties.
