Junior League of Dallas Awards Nearly $1M to Local Charities

League's Community Volunteer Fair Held at NorthPark Center

More than 1,200 Junior League of Dallas members and representatives from 39 local charitable agencies converged upon NorthPark Center for the annual Junior League of Dallas Community Volunteer Fair and Community Grant Presentation on Saturday, February 12, 2011. The JLD announced and presented nearly $1 million along with over 1,000 volunteers to local nonprofit agencies at their Community Grant Presentation, sponsored by Bank of Texas.

The Junior League of Dallas' Community Volunteer Fair's main objective is to provide an opportunity for League-supported agencies to connect with potential JLD volunteers and volunteers from throughout the Dallas community. The Fair also featured activities by the JLD's Kids in the Kitchen program, sponsored by UnitedHealthcare, which included an appearance by Dr. Health E. Hound.

"The Junior League of Dallas is humbled to serve and have the opportunity to showcase 41 nonprofit agencies and community projects that encompass the arts, education, family preservation, health, poverty intervention, and violence intervention," said Leigh Anne Haugh, 2010-2011 President of the Junior League of Dallas. "Along with the grants, our members will collectively contribute more than 120,000 volunteer hours."
