The Limelight: Rebuilding Together Greater Dallas

Rebuilding Together Greater Dallas is the affiliate of a national non-profit organization that provides necessary home repair/rehab and accessibility/modification to low-income homeowners who are elderly, disabled or families with dependent children at no cost. Last year, Rebuilding Together rehabbed approx. 50 homes making the Dallas chapter the 4th largest remodeler in the country.

There are several programs in which Rebuilding Together actively reaches out to the greater Dallas community.

Safe at Home
The Safe at Home program is specifically aimed towards the disabled and elderly. Rebuilding Together has been able to increase the quality of life for seniors through accessibility and repairs, giving mobility and allowing them to age in their own homes.

National Rebuilding Day
Held on the last Saturday in April, National Rebuilding Day is the annual signature event of Rebuilding Together during which affiliates nationwide carry out projects to celebrate the organization's mission and to bring attention to the plight of America's low-income homeowners and the communities in which they live.

Green Housing
Rebuilding Together believes that home repair and rehabilitation are inherently green. Through the repairs made, homeowners save money on utility bills, thrive in cleaner home environments and are better-able to afford other essential needs.

If you are interested in volunteering, there are many ways to become involved. Be it painting a worn front porch, building a wheelchair ramp, repairing a leaky roof, or replacing aging windows and doors, you can make a commitment to preserving dignified homeownership in your community.
