Laptops for Love is a program founded by Heroes for Children. The organization coordinates the donation of new laptops to teenagers who are battling cancer. This unique program provides teens with a link to the outside world while undergoing cancer treatment and allows them to keep up with their school work while away from the classroom. It is amazing what a laptop computer can do for the spirit of a teen who is fighting cancer. Between January 2005 and December 2009, Laptops for Love provided 252 teenagers with a laptop! The difference this makes for the teen is immeasurable!
Why do patients and their families need laptops?
-Provide a link to the outside world while living in the hospital.
-Allow families to create websites to keep loved ones updated on the child's progress.
-Give older children the chance to continue working on schoolwork.
-Entertain children living in the hospital.
