Honorary Card to Thank Teachers

Community Partners of Dallas (CPD) is such an amazing organization and they have found a fun, innovative way to raise money for children to start the school year with the right supplies. In conjunction with their Back to School Drive, they are asking for a small price, then you are able to write an Honorary card to thank all of your wonderful teachers.

You are giving a teacher who commits to helping their students learn a beautiful card AND helping to provide school supplies. This is certainly a gift that keeps giving! Parents, if you are blanking out on a good gift for that special teacher, this sounds like a definite winner!

If you would like to honor someone, please CLICK HERE to fill out the form, which will ask all the other questions CPD needs to know. Everyone loves to get mail, you decide if you want to personally mail it or have CPD do it for you.

Stanley Korshak and Share Our Strength

The saying "not in my backyard" is abundant, but it remains constant and true. There are many American children who go hungry every day and Dallas certainly has many youngsters with that very issue.

Stanley Korshak and Share Our Strength have teamed up to make NO KID HUNGRY a reality.
This is a growing problem and this collaboration can help take a bite out of childhood hunger.

The problem will not go away on its own, so Stanley Korshak has some incentive: buy an SOS card for $100 (or more) at their customer service counter or online. 100% of the cost of the card will go to Share Our Strength. A wonderful idea, especially if you have not been to the gorgeous Stanley Korshak, along with the message and donation for a terrific cause.

Please help our community: buy a card, shop and have a grand time while you are helping local kids have a meal. All of these donations will give these children the food they need to grow, be children and flourish. Hurry, this promotion is from April 20th - April 30th.

The night had a captivating tropical flair and dazzled with rooms of glamorous attire. Event Co-Chairs Wynne Brown, Katie Head and Molly Thomas, said, “This spring party was the most successful one with more than 750 young friends, hors d’oeuvres, silent auction items, libations, DJ Lucy Wrubel’s lively mixes, and Todd Fiscus-designed event to complement the theme. We are thrilled that everyone came to support the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary.” It was a fabulous spring party guests will be talking about for months to come!

Check out their great website and find a look right for you or someone you know -- and they are completely eco-friendly.

One Man Dallas

This is the event for that one man in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex who represents community involvement, intelligence, personality and fitness. The only down side is there are so many men in our community that could fit this position, yet One Man Dallas has narrowed it down to twenty finalists.

Beginning April 12th you can look at the list of finalists and vote for whom you choose (one entry per day) until May 15th.

Please view One Man Dallas' website to view locations for a few Happy Hours they will be throwing to get-to-know these men along with the organizations they are passionate about. The events are open to the public.

Stay tuned to see who was picked for One Man Dallas... The final show will take the remaining five top-picked men who will answer questions and other entertainment, such as live music. Sounds fun! What may sound like a male beauty pageant, this is not. The mission is to encourage more men to get involved in the community through volunteering to make it even a better place to work and live. Such a great idea, so read about these men devoted to our community and vote away...

A welcome by Auxiliary President Beverly Barry will open the luncheon, followed by an invocation by Mark Davis of Park Cities Presbyterian Church. The theme of this year's luncheon, "the Miracle that happens in between", is a direct quote from a Nexus client who once described her experience there as the miracle that happens in between addiction and recovery, despair and hope. Accordingly, a former client of Nexus Recovery Center will bravely share her personal story, which is always a powerful testimony. Additionally, a Nexus video entitled "The Miracle that Happens in Between" will detail how Nexus empowers women and families to break the cycle of addiction.

Auxiliary member Sarah Katherine Francis will then introduce her friends Candice, Barbara and Jenna to the expected 500+ luncheon guests. This 2011 luncheon is Co-Chaired by Susan Griffiths and Dee Velvin, with Honorary Chair Allie Beth Allman. Dee adds, "With our featured speakers, Barbara and Jenna, we look forward to sharing the importance of Nexus to a broader audience this year."

Wolfgang Puck will cater the lunch and "Nexus Blend" iced tea will be served compliments of The Cultured Cup. Also, guests can purchase $25 raffle tickets for a chance in 3 drawings: $1000 Saks Fifth Avenue gift card, a two night stay at The Joule with dinner for four at Charlie Palmer, and two court-side seats for the 2011-12 Dallas Mavericks.

Individual tickets are $125 and sponsor table opportunities range from $2500 to $10,000. Various sponsorship benefits include an invitation to a private meet & greet with the Bush sisters. Interested parties should contact Dee Velvin at 214.850.4087 or dee@paradv.com
