Chick Lit Luncheon Presented by Dr. Robert and Lara Tafel Benefiting Community Partners of Dallas

Get ready to laugh with your best girlfriends and New York Times best-selling memoirist Jen Lancaster at the third annual Chick Lit Luncheon presented by Dr. Robert and Lara Tafel. The luncheon chaired by Jennifer Tobin and benefiting Community Partners of Dallas will be held at Brook Hollow Golf Club on Thursday, April 29.

Jen Lancaster’s sassy wit will keep guests and Honorary Chairman Sarah Losinger highly entertained and falling out of their seats with laughter. As the author of Pretty In Plaid, Such a Pretty Fat, Bright Lights, Big Ass and Bitter is the New Black, Jen continues her ‘chick lit’ rhetoric on her blog, Jennsylvania.com.

Community Partners of Dallas ensures safety and restores dignity and hope to abused and neglected children by providing resources and support to the caseworkers of Dallas County. Their signature program is The Rainbow Room, which is stocked full of items an infant to an 18-year-old would need such as clothing, shoes, formula, cleaning supplies, hygiene items, birthday presents and school supplies. Often times receiving an unused item is a novelty to these children, therefore every item supplied in the room is brand new. The Rainbow Room enables caseworkers to get necessary items to help their children free of charge thus further enabling them to spend more time on their cases without worrying about how to pay for them. It is a great public/private partnership.

Tables are $15,000 to $1,500. For more information, please contact Joanna Clark at 214-624-7584 or Joanna@cpdtx.org.

Stiletto Strut Kick-Off Party Benefiting the American Heart Association

Chairmen Lynn McBee and Anne Stodghill and Honorary Chairs Peggy and Jacquelin Sewell welcomed fellow fashionistas Yvonne and Mayo Crum, Ann Dyer, Elaine Agather, Laura Leppert and Claire and Dwight Emanuelson as they strutted into Neiman Marcus Downtown for the Stiletto Strut Kick-Off Party Wednesday, Feburary 17. Delicious canapés (my favorite was the Fried Mac & Cheese on a stick) were passed as the well-heeled, packed crowd including Holly and Doug Deason, Piper and Mike Wyatt, Heather and Todd Furniss, Allan McBee, Steve Stodhill and Mary and John Gill enjoyed cocktails and visiting while DJ Jennifer Miller spun tunes.

Shelle Sills and Lynn McBee then welcomed the crowd to the Shoe Salon and announced the winner of the Heart & Soul Award is Nancy Carter. They also reminded the crowd the Third Annual Stiletto Strut benefiting the American Heart Association is Thursday, April 29 which is such a high energy, fun event. Guests at Stiletto Strut will enjoy cocktails and victuals and then strut around the block of Neiman Marcus in their fancy shoes. There will also be an exclusive silent auction and a fabulous raffle.

After guests were welcomed, they were treated to an informal fashion show on the Spring trends. Rhonda Sargent Chambers, Muffin Lemak, Abby Gregory, Suzanne Droese and Isabell Novakov watched hot firemen escort models to the stage as Jeny Bania described each upcoming trend the model was wearing: blue is the new black, exotic pieces, statement jewelry, nude colored shoes, denim, culottes, short shorts and embellished tees. Jeny said “When you put on a bracelet, add four more” as a nod to the bold jewelry. One of the models carried an incredible Valentino handbag that looked like leather but was made of denim!

As we left the party, we were handed a Sprinkles Red Velvet Cupcake. From Monday, April 5 – Sunday, April 11, Sprinkles Preston Center will donate 100% of the proceeds of Red Velvet Cupcakes sold to the American Heart Association.

Individual tickets to Stiletto Strut start at $250; $125 for those under 30 years of age. Sponsorships begin at $2,500. Top Sponsors will be invited to a fabulous private event at The Joule Hotel in early April.

Happy Heart Month!

I love the awareness campaign created by the American Heart Association. I hope you will join me in saying thank you to their generous supporters!

Happy Heart Month! We have so many great partners that are raising awareness this month that we need your help to say thank you! You can Walk, Jog, Run, March or Saunter. . .all for the sake of your heart.

    1. Walk to Walgreens – now through February 26 all Walgreens stores are taking dollar donations. The goal is to raise $200,000 throughout DFW.
    2. Jog to Jiffy Lube – but don’t forget your car! Nationally the are planning to raise $1 million. . .$3 at a time through March 14.
    3. Run to Ross – Ross Stores have already raised over $1 million nationally and are well on their way to their goal of $2 million. They are selling paper hearts and pins.
    4. March to Macy’s – their Wear Red promotion occurs February 3 – 7. Macy’s will be offering a 20% savings pass for anyone wearing red. If you aren’t wearing red you can purchase a red dress pin for $2 and receive the shopping pass.
    5. Saunter over to M&M Special Events rent something RED and a portion of the proceeds will go back to the American Heart Association. Please contact an M&M Specialist at 214-350-5373 for your renting needs!

Wondering how you can help? Adopt your neighborhood stores of one or all four of the above and thank them as often as you can. That’s it! It’s as simple and fun as saying thank you! All of our retail partners are making a huge difference this month – from both an awareness standpoint as well as a financial contribution and we want to thank them.

Once you say thank you – please send Lindsey Landman (lindsey.landman@heart.org) an email letting us know the details (date and location). Thank you for saying thank you!
